Can I Park In Garden City Lirr Lot On Weekend

I looked up the parking information for Garden City and there is a free parking lot for everyone but it's only for 8 hours from 8am to 8pm. I have to get to work by 9am in the city so I would leave my car there at 7:30am. Coming back, it would be around 7pm which is close to 12 hours in parking which goes over the 8 hour limit. Do the GC police record the parking time everyone's car and give out tickets for those over the 8 hour limit or do they not care?
